Integrating D2L Brightspace with Edfinity (LTI 1.1)

Students can access Edfinity assignments from D2L Brightspace without creating an Edfinity account. When a student completes an assignment, the grade is passed back to D2L.

Getting started

These steps need to be completed prior to student enrollment in the relevant Edfinity course.

Indicate your course will be accessed from D2L

  1. Go to your course on Edfinity, select the Settings > LMS Integration tab.
  2. Select From your LMS and then select D2L.
  3. Specify how you would like your grades passed back to Brightspace (per assignment or single summary grade).
  4. Modify other settings as desired.

Ask your administrator to set up LTI authentication

If you do not see Edfinity as an External Learning Tools tool provider, please ask your institution's D2L administrator to contact us at support@edfinity.com. If you are a D2L administrator, detailed instructions for setting up LTI authentication can be found in the administration guide.

Linking to Edfinity assignments

From D2L, you can link to each Edfinity assignment individually and a grade will be passed back for each assignment. This is the most common configuration. You can also, link to an entire Edfinity course as a single D2L assignment with an averaged grade.

Linking to individual assignments (multiple grades)

  1. From Edfinity, go to your assignment, and open the LMS integration section on the Settings tab. Copy the External tool URL.

  2. From D2L, open your course and select a module.
  3. Select Add Existing, and then select External Tool Activity.
  4. If the desired Edfinity link already exists, select it and the link will be added and your are finished.
  5. If the link does not exist, Select Create New Link. Choose a title. Enter the copied Edfinity external tool URL from above. For tool, choose "Legacy LTI Tool".
  6. Open the new activity and enable grading.

Linking to an entire course (single grade)

  1. Go to your Edfinity course and select the Settings tab. Open the LMS Integration section and select Summarized as a single course grade as your grade pass back option. Copy the External tool URL.

  2. From D2L, open your course and select a module.
  3. Select Add Existing, and then select External Tool Activity.
  4. If the desired Edfinity link already exists, select it and the link will be added and your are finished.
  5. If the link does not exist, Select Create New Link. Choose a title. Enter the copied Edfinity external tool URL from above. For tool, choose "Legacy LTI Tool".
  6. Open the new activity and enable grading.
