Connecting to an Edfinity course from Brightspace

You can link your Edfinity course to Brightspace in one of two ways:

  1. You can link each Edfinity assignment to Brightspace individually and a grade will be passed back for each assignment. This is the most common configuration.
  2. You can also link to an entire Edfinity course as a single Brightspace assignment, and a single averaged grade for all assignments (calculated by the Edfinity grade book) will be passed back to Brightspace.

1: Indicate your Edfinity course will be accessed from Brightspace

This step needs to be completed prior to student enrollment in the relevant Edfinity course.
  1. Go to your course on Edfinity, select the Settings > LMS Integration tab.
  2. Select From your LMS and then select Brightspace.
  3. Specify how you would like your grades passed back to Brightspace (per assignment or single summary grade).
  4. Modify other settings as desired.

2. Connect your Edfinity and Brightspace courses

Your Brightspace administrator needs to add Edfinity as a Brightspace App before you can link your Edfinity course to Brightspace. If you do not see Edfinity in your course navigation menu, please ask your institution's Brightspace administrator to follow the steps outlined in the administration guide.
  1. Go to the Brightspace course.
  2. Click “Content” in top navigation in course
  3. Under Table of Contents click the module that you want to add the tool to (you may need to Add a module)
  4. Click Existing Activities then External Learning Tools.
  5. At the bottom of the list, click Create New LTI Link.
  6. In the resulting dialog, enter the title of the link for display in the course (such as "Edfinity Assignments").
  7. For LTI URL, enter https://edfinity.com/ltia/course_link
  8. Choose the Edfinity tool from the drop-down list.
  9. Click Create and Insert.
  10. Follow the newly-created link.
  11. Select the Edfinity course that corresponds with your Brightspace course.

Your students can now use the Edfinity assignments link to access your Edfinity course content.

3. Set up deep linking (optional)

Usually, using the above instructions is all you need to integrate Edfinity into Brightspace. At times you may want links to specific Edfinity assignments. To add them, follow these steps.

  1. Go to the Brightspace course.
  2. In the desired module, click the Add Existing button.
  3. In the More section, Third Party subsection, choose Edfinity Content Links. (If you don't see this option, ask your administrator to add this using the Edfinity administrator instructions for D2L/Brightspace.)
  4. Choose the Edfinity assignment and click Get Assignment Link.
