Register a tool for Edfinity in Brightspace
Choose one of the two options below to register a tool.
Option 1: Dynamic registration
This option saves time and reduces the risk of errors.
- Log in as an administrator.
- From the top-right gear menu, select Manage Extensibility.
- Select LTI Advantage from the tabs.
- Select the Register Tool button.
- Select Dynamic for the tool registration type.
- For the tool initiation registration endpoint, use this value:
https://edfinity.com/ltia/registration/dynamic - Select Configure Deployment.
- Select Register.
- Select Click to Continue to finish the process.
Option 2: Manual registration
Use this option if the above method fails, or if your are more familiar with this approach.
First, register Edfinity as a tool in Brightspace.
- Log in as an administrator.
- From the top-right gear menu, choose Manage Extensibility.
- Select LTI Advantage from the tabs.
- Select the Register Tool button.
- Select Standard Tool for registration type.
- For the tool parameters, use these values:
- Name: Edfinity
- Description: (Optional)
- Domain: https://edfinity.com
- Redirect URLs: https://edfinity.com/ltia/launches
- OpenID Connect Login URL: https://edfinity.com/ltia/login_initiations
- Target Link URI: https://edfinity.com/ltia/launches
- Keyset URL: https://edfinity.com/ltia/jwks
- Extensions: Assignment and Grade Services, Deep Linking
- Roles: Send Institution Role
- Select Save. (Don't close yet.)
Next, register a tool for Brightspace in Edfinity
- If you don't already have one, sign up for an Edfinity account. For account type, choose Educator.
- In your browser, go to https://edfinity.com/ltia/registration.
- Specify the following:
- Platform Root URL = <Copy the "Issuer" from your Brightspace tool>
- Client ID = <Copy the "Client Id" from Brightspace tool>
- Key Set URL = <Copy the "Brightspace Keyset URL" from Brightspace tool>
- Authorization Token URL = <Copy the "Brightspace OAuth2 Access Token URL" from Brightspace tool>
- Authorization Login URL = <Copy the "OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint" from Brightspace tool>
- Click Save.
2. Add the Edfinity tool to a Brightspace course
- Log in as an administrator.
- From the top-right gear menu, choose External Learning Tool.
- Select LTI Advantage from the tabs.
- Select the New Deployment button.
- Specify the following:
- Tool = <Choose the tool from the first step>
- Name = Edfinity
- Description: (Optional)
- Extensions: Assignment and Grade Services, Deep Linking
- Security Settings: Org Unit Information, User Information (all), Link Information (both)
- Configuration Settings: Open as External Resource, Grades created by LTI will be included in Final Grade
- SelectSave and Close
Ensure the deployment is shared with the correct org units and courses.
3. Configure deep linking (optional)
- Log in as an administrator.
- From the top-right gear menu, select "Manage Extensibility"
- Select "LTI Advantage" from the tabs.
- Search and open your Edfinity deployment.
- Select the View Links link at the bottom of the page.
- Select the New Link button and enter the deeplink LTI details:
- Name: Edfinity Content Links
- URL: https://edfinity.com/ltia/deep_link
- Description: Edfinity Content Links
- Type: Deeplinking Quick Link
- Width: 1200
- Height: 800
- Click Save and Close
