Edfinity supports two different options to password-protect an assignment. Please review both options carefully to determine which option is appropriate for your use.
Option | Expires | Applies to | Details |
---|---|---|---|
Assignment password | never | a specific assignment | See below... |
Activation code | defaults to 30 minutes after first use | any assignment | Refer to Using access codes for more information. |
Assignment passwords are easiest when students are all accessing an assignment in a single session.
Activation codes are useful in scenarios where you are administering a test for several groups of students at different times, and you do not want students in different groups to share a password. Each activation code is valid for a fixed amount of time, and you can generate more codes as needed.
Configuring an assignment to require a password
To configure an assignment to require a password:
- Go to the assignment and select the Availability tab.
- Select Require password to start and specify a password.
- If an assignment has been configured to require a password, the student will be prompted to provide the password when they access the assignment. Give the password to the student when applicable.
