D2L Brightspace Administration Guide (LTI Advantage)

Registering Edfinity as a tool in Brightspace by D2L

  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. From the top-right gear menu, choose Manage Extensibility.
  3. Choose LTI Advantage from the tabs.
  4. Click the Register Tool button.
  5. Choose Standard Tool for registration type.
  6. For the tool parameters, use these values:
  7. Choose Save. (Don't close yet.)

Registering the tool in Edfinity

  1. If you don't already have one, sign up for an Edfinity account. For account type, choose Educator. 
  2. In your browser, go to https://edfinity.com/ltia/registration.
  3. Specify the following:
    1. Platform Root URL = <Copy the "Issuer" from your Brightspace tool>
    2. Client ID = <Copy the "Client Id" from Brightspace tool>
    3. Key Set URL = <Copy the "Brightspace Keyset URL" from Brightspace tool>
    4. Authorization Token URL = <Copy the "Brightspace OAuth2 Access Token URL" from Brightspace tool>
    5. Authorization Login URL = <Copy the "OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint" from Brightspace tool>
  4. Click Save.

Adding tool to D2L course

  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. From the top-right gear menu, choose External Learning Tool.
  3. Choose LTI Advantage from the tabs.
  4. Click the New Deployment button.
  5. Specify the following: 
    • Tool = <Choose the tool from the first step>
    • Name = Edfinity
    • Description: (Optional)
    • Extensions: Assignment and Grade Services, Deep Linking
    • Security Settings: Org Unit Information, User Information (all), Link Information (both)
    • Configuration Settings: Open as External Resource, Grades created by LTI will be included in Final Grade
  6. Choose Save and Close

Ensure the deployment is shared with the correct org units and courses.

 

Configuring deep linking (optional)

  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. From the top-right gear menu, choose "Manage Extensibility"
  3. Choose "LTI Advantage" from the tabs.
  4. Search and open your Edfinity deployment.
  5. Click the View Links link at the bottom of the page.
  6. Click the New Link button and enter the deeplink LTI details:
    • Name: Edfinity Content Links
    • URL: https://edfinity.com/ltia/deep_link
    • Description: Edfinity Content Links
    • Type: Deeplinking Quick Link
    • Width: 1200
    • Height: 800
    • Click Save and Close
