Configuring Edfinity an an external tool in Sakai
As a Sakai administrator, follow these steps to integrate Edfinity with Sakai as an external tool.
- Contact Edfinity at support@edfinity.com to receive a consumer key and shared secret for your institution.
- In Administration Workspace, External Tools, select Install LTI 1.x Tool.
- Enter the following values:
- Tool Title = Edfinity (or change as you like)
- Allow tool title to be changed = Allow
- Button Text = Edfinity (or change as you like)
- Launch URL = https://edfinity.com/lti/assess
- Allow launch URL to be changed = Allow
- Launch Key = <key provided>
- Launch Secret = <secret provided>
- Check the following values:
- Privacy
- Send User Names to External Tool
- Send Email Addresses to External Tool
- Services
- Allow External Tool to return grades
- Allow External Tool to create grade columns
- Content/Deep Link Selection
- Allow the tool to be launched as a link (this is typically true for most tools)
- Privacy
- Enter the following values:
- Launch in Popup = Always launch in Popup
- You can keep the defaults for the remaining values.
- Select Save.
After the external tool is created, you and authorized users will be able to create tool links within lessons that link to an assignment or course. See Integrating Sakai with Edfinity for more information.
Testing the Integration
If you'd like to test the integration without setting up your own Edfinity account, you can follow the following steps:
- Configure an external tool as defined above, using the URL: https://edfinity.com/lti/assess?assignment_id=5e1df06d1a0ec26dfebf2787
- If you are taken to edfinity.com and prompted to enroll (at no cost), the integration is working.
