The assignment's environment settings determines how problems are presented to a student and how the student interacts with those problems. Your educator account starts with two basic environment templates, Homework and Test, which define default assignment environment settings. Any assignment which uses one of these templates will inherit the settings specified in the template.
- The Homework template allows students to attempt each problem multiple times, providing them with feedback and encouraging them to work until they correct answer each item.
- The Test template does not provide feedback to the student, who answers each problem and then submits the entire assignment once completed.
Using an environment template
By default, new assignments use the Homework environment template. To change the template used by an assignment, go to the assignment and select the Settings tab. In the environment settings section, select a template from the list of templates.
To edit an environment template for all assignments that reference that template, select the Manage button. See Editing an environment template.
Customizing environment settings
If you want to customize environment settings for an individual assignment, go to the assignment and select the Settings tab. In the environment settings section, select Use custom settings and then edit as you like.
Changes made to the environment will only affect the given assignment. For detailed information on environment settings, see the Assignment Environment Reference Guide.
