You can require students to use the Respondus Lockdown Browser to take tests and exams. This special browser prevents students from navigating to other sites and switching to other programs on the computer. Students will also be unable to view other Edfinity assignments while in this mode.
Students will be required to download software onto their computers. Windows and Macintosh are supported platforms. Linux, Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad) are not supported. Students with Windows computers will be required to use an administrator password to install the browser.
When you release the results of the test to students, Respondus Lockdown Browser is not required to view those results. (If you have material you do not want copied, you can release only the results and not the student work.)
Preparing for a test with Lockdown Browser
In the Availability tab of the assignment, choose the Require Lockdown Browser setting. Configure any advanced options necessary (see below). If this is your first test in the course requiring Lockdown Browser, we recommend sending students to this link ahead of time:
https://edfinity.com/respondus/student_trial
This will allow students to download the browser and check requirements before the test. The same download links are also available when the students begin the test. If you'd like to test Lockdown Browser functionality yourself, enroll in the class yourself (free), change the availability of your own assessment, and begin.
